Late T'ang Get Some More Infantry
The Late T'ang list has lots of infantry options. The standing army can be all Irregular or all Regular depending on which date you choose to take. I decided to go for the Regular version of the list. Having purchased the army back in May 2018 I feel I have finally started to break the back of this building project. Whilst the army was nicely painted it needed some remedial work and rebasing. It was all Outpost Wargames Services castings which are not the most robust of castings. Since I had to order more figures to complete the army I have kept to Outpost castings where possible.
First up are the core of the army its heavy infantry spearmen. Outpost make two basic types of spearmen and there's a few poses in each figure code. I decided to make up uniformed spear blocks in each type which better reflects the more regular nature of the standing army.
The better looking casting is the armoured spearmen but you have to glue the spear and shield to the casting which makes for a very fiddly job if starting from scratch and unless you are careful they will tend to lose spears and shields.
Outpose Code STC4 Armoured Spearmen with Elaborate Shields |
Outpost Code STC5 Unarmoured Spearmen with Plain Shields |
These two batches complete the Spearmen option for the army.
The Militia is a huge contingent and I have adopted the technique to create them in four individual blocks. This is the second contingent.
Outpost Codes STC7 Unarmoured Archers & STC18 Unarmoured Swordsman |
Last up for today is the second of the three Peasant Militia Horde contingents. This code only has four variations but due to a lot of the castings having missing scythe blades I used this as an option to give them plain pole weapons. They add variety to the army despite the poor quality of the troops.
Outpost STC15 Peasant/Horde |
I had hoped to complete the army by Xmas but I think that is going to be a long shot given competing priorities.
