Later Pre-Islamic Arab 15mm Commission

15mm LPIA Commission

Paul wants to expand his LPIA ally contingent and asked me if I had anything suitable to be used for their Irr Bd I/O options. After asking the sort of figures he wanted, being told bare headed, shieldless and a mix of spears, swords and bows if possible as per the list notes I came up with a bag of discontinued Museum Miniatures Arab/Indian Hordes. They came with a mix of top knot turbans, traditional turbans and bare headed. I sorted out all the suitable bare headed male castings and proceeded to drill out all of their hands after removing their improvised weapons to give them all metal spears. I ended up with 28 castings, 7 with swords, 7 in one pose with spears and 14 in another pose with spears. After cleaning them up, painting and varnishing as per Pauls specification I think they will fit in quite well with his ally contingent.

Whilst working on my next painting task I found another four castings suitable to add to this commission! All Museum Miniatures as before, three converted to hold steel spears and one swordsman. This now gives Paul 32 castings to create eight elements of Blades.

Later Pre-Islamic Arabs Game From 2017

1st Ever LPIA Game - Yathrid [Medina]

I knew I had given the LPIA a run out but could not find a blog entry of it. I took pictures of the game but think real life interfered with my writing it up. I cant even recall the enemy army I fought against. I will have to ask Peter at the club since it was his army. The game took place on 12th November 2017. All I have is a series of pictures as a record of the game. I cant even remember who won or the score.

Turns out I lost 2-8 v Palmyans but was three elements away from breaking his army after taking out his Arab ally and another command.

Later Pre Islamic Arab Commission

Project Lead Mountain Throws Out Another Job

As part of my attempt to try and clear out most of my unpainted metal I started Project Lead Mountain back in 2012. I am still working through the metal but the unpainted metal is down to 20% of its original amount as long as I ignore the new purchases I have made since 2012.

I club mate recently used a 15mm Later Pre Islamic Arab army on the tabletop and mentioned that he was often unable to field the exact right amount to troops he wanted to deploy.

This gave me the necessary notice to go and have a look through PLM again. I found nine Minifigs ZE12 Arab Camel Archers, twenty Minifigs ZC54 Arab Light Cavalrymen, Javelin, Shield and two Magister Militum ASS21 Arab Camels.

He didnt want the MM castings but since I am painting the rest I might as well paint everything all at the same time to clear out the remaining oddments for this particular commission.

So I created 3 x Irr Cm O, 10 x Irr LH O and 1 x Irr LH I

The Minifigs castings are quite old but they are on their later horses and camels which means they are still quite good figures considering their old age. Minimal flash on them which is always a good start.

We agreed a figure for my castings and to paint them up to match figures I have already supplied to him in the past. I painted them fairly generically so he can use them in a few armies as desired.

The odd Irr LH I element will end up in my own collection.

Later Pre-Islamic Arab Camelry Commission

Another Small Commission from PLM

Are part of Project Lead Mountain I still have lots of bits and pieces left to paint when I get round to it. I bought a batch of Minifigs ZE11 castings off EBay with a view to paint and sell them on to make some money. The castings are very old by today's standards and were cleanly cast with minimal flash or mold lines to remove. They are going into someones army to use as part of an allied contingent as since they have their own basing technique they were supplied unbased. Being camelry basings with swords rather than bows they will be used to make Irr Cm O elements. I only had 12 castings which was just the number of castings wanted for their army.
