A Day On Tramlink

A Day on the Trams!

I was due to meet up with some former work colleagues from when I worked with British Railways back in the 1980's. I decided that I would spend the day out exploring the entire Tramlink network. It was a very long day out as I didn't realise just how extensive the network was.

I started at Wimbledon having caught the Jubilee line to Waterloo then a SWR train via Clapham Junction. Changed at West Croydon to take some pictures of the new Bus Station. Then off to Elmers End and back to Arena to change to the Beckenham Branch before finally returning to Sandilands to catch a New Addington branch service before returning to George Street to have some dinner in the pub and a chat with some colleagues. Most of the line used to be Heavy Railway, the West Croydon- Wimbledon Line, opened in 1930 by the Southern Railway. The Woodside and South Croydon Joint Railway, opened by the SER and LBSCR in 1885, The Addiscombe Branch opened as part of the Mid-Kent and North Kent Junction Railway by the SER in 1857 to Beckenham Junction and in 1863 to Addiscombe.
