I know the list looks like a lot but in reality most of them are morphs of core armies by just adding a few missing elements. Theres probably a couple more morphs in there that I haven't considered too.
To recap: 3 Book 1, 13 Book 2, 37 Book 3 and 34 Book 4 armies.

When this is compared to the DBMM Tournament six period theme it means I can field the following number of armies by theme, with overlaps because of the date range allows some armies to be used in more than one theme.
Period 1 – 3000BC to 500BC (The Chariot Era) - 3 armies
Period 2 – 500BC to 25BC (High Classical) - 10 armies
Period 3 – 25BC to 476AD (Imperial Rome) - 9 armies
Period 4 – 476AD to 1071AD (The Dark Ages) - 42 armies

Period 5 – 1071AD to 1321AD (Feudal Era) - 50 armies
Period 6 – 1321AD to 1515AD (High Medieval) - 33 armies

Arab-Indians the Saga finishes

Having spotted the Arab-Indian List and its morph possibilities.

Once I had virtually finished off all my Arab figures I mentioned earlier I realised that they could easily morph into the Arab-Indian list with the addition of a few more figures [always the way].

So I had a look through my unpainted lead mountain and came across a pile of Tin Soldier Indians from a long abandoned project. I worked out what I needed to paint up and sent off a small order to Tin Soldier. Meanwhile I saw a cheap but badly based Indian army on EBay. They were based up for Impetus so would have to be re based if I bought them. I submitted a bid and since no one else also bid I won so I ended up with a sizable collection of Indian troops to refurbish.

The Tin Soldier figures paint up really well and the morph came together fairly quickly. I still have more Tin Soldier Cavalry and Archers to paint up but since I have added the EBay purchase collection I don't need to paint them for now.

Before people wonder about the shields I consulted Duncan Head about Sindi troops and he recommended I paint them up with Black Lacquered Shields as this was a traditional thing for most Indian armies.

Long term I can add to this collection and eventually turn it into an Hindu Indian or even Later Muslim Indian army.

Tin Soldier Irr Ps S

Tin Soldier Irr Bd F

Tin Soldier Irr Bw I

EBay Purchase Irr Bw I [Chariot Figures?]

EBay Purchase Irr Cv I [Chariot Figures?]

Tin Soldier Indian Elephant [and yes it is really large]

EBay Purchase Irr Ps O [Chariot Figures?]

EBay Purchase Indian Scouts Irr LH O [Chariot Figures?]

Museum Miniatures Baggage Elephants

Museum Miniatures Camel Drawn DBE Baggage Elements

Six EBay Purchase Irr El O

In addition to the above I refurbished the following figures which I will be selling on as they are of no use to me at this time. Two Irr WWg O, three Irr Kn F and six Irr Bw I elements.

Have now sold the two War Wagons to a club mate and the Archers sold on EBay which is a result. So now I have started to play around with the list to see if I can get a viable army to try out in the next few months.
UPDATE - I am lending the Arab-Indian Army to a club mate on Sunday 19th October to play against so will be able to see first hand how it performs.

Early Armenians the final figures finally finished

Early Armenian last figures added to finish off the army.

Finally finished off the Irr Cv S/Irr Kn F figures that kick in towards the end of the Early Armenian army list that replace the Cataphracts. I am quite pleased with the effect. I used QRF Parthians on half armoured mounts with an odd fully armoured cataphract to represent the CinC. I lifted the flags from the Wikipedia page on Ancient Armenia.

A total of 20 elements including four command stands in the front row.

Home From Iceni 2014 in Hoveton

Coltishall Cowards 500 AP DBM Doubles Tournament

Arrived home after a tiring weekend of rolling dice, cursing a succession of 1's yet still managing to achieve third place after holding the eventual winners to a 5-5 Draw [Jer Morgan/John Calvert] and narrowly beating the second place team 6-4 [John Graham-Leigh/Russell King]. Jer/John and John/Russ were tied for first place but John/Russ lost out on count back due to my winning my game against them.

I learnt a few new things by playing who are probably the best UK DBM players.

Heres my army list.

Over the weekend I used mobile baggage, on reflection I should have taken immobile baggage but I guess I could have just declared that all my camels were tethered. I never had to move them and being immobile I would not have to hold them if a command broke.

Heres are a few pictures of the first days two games. Being engrossed in playing games on the Sunday meant I forgot to take any pictures.

Roll Call 2012 DBM Army Choice

Not a good year for the Romans

Here's the army I chose to use for this theme, It was a very poor choice as I finished last and was totally outclassed by the other armies and the oldest army taken by at least 100 years from memory. I still think the list has merits but only against historic enemies.

If v3.3 is adopted I will have to redo the list slightly because of the changes to the AP costs of Sp [S] and El [I]. The Marian Roman army list is probably slightly better than this one at 400 AP.

Three identical sized commands to maximize deployment options, with the micro command to deploy second.
Whilst Wb S are OK they need to be four deep to resist knights whilst Bd O can resist only two deep allowing a much wider frontage of open ground to be covered by the CinC’s command which will also allows for a flank march option or combined assault by the other two large commands.

The Irr WWg I option is the MM specific encouraging women classed as Irr Bge S in MM element that two list checkers have said they would allow. Lawrence and JGL said they would allow it in any list they checked.

Not used it as it was more of a design exercise but I think it may have some merit.
